The latest VERN study, A Multicentre Audit of Best Medical Therapy for Aneurysm Surveillance Patients is now available to collaborate in!
Patients with small or medium sized abdominal aortic aneurysms typically enter aneurysm surveillance, giving them regular review by a vascular specialist. These patients are known to be at high risk of cardiovascular events, requiring secondary prevention, therefore they should all be taking both a statin and an antiplatelet agent, as well as treatment of hypertension and diabetic control.
The aim of this audit is primarily to determine the proportion of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms who are on best medical therapy. In addition this audit will assess for variation in practice based on socioeconomic status.
Multicentre audit of all patients currently under AAA surveillance. Data collected will include date and size of aneurysm at diagnosis and at current scan, past medical history, smoking history, and current medications.
