Poster of the Surgical Site Infections in Major Lower Limb Amputation study

Surgical Site Infection in Major Lower Limb Amputation

Surgical site infection (SSI) is a leading cause of in-hospital morbidity and mortality.  Prevention and management of SSI after major lower limb amputation (MLLA) is heterogenous and compliance to national guidelines is unknown.

SIMBA (Surgical Site Infections in Major Lower Limb Amputation), is a prospective audit, designed to evaluate current adherence to guidelines and identify scope for improvement regarding the prevention and management of SSI after MLLA.

This is an international multi-centre audit with prospective data collection via REDCap. All adult patients undergoing elective or emergency MLLA are eligible to be included.

Collaborative authorship for all participants and centre-specific data for local presentation will be provided.

Launch date: 1st October 2023
