The Midlands Aortic Renal Injury (MARI) Study is a national prospective cohort study investigating the peri-operative impact of aortic intervention on renal function.
Patients undergoing any form of open or endovascular intervention are eligible to take part. A series of clinical and biochemical parameters are recorded prospectively by the VERN researchers and the research nurses attached to the project.
The study is supported by the NIHR Clinical Research Network and included patients from 11 vascular centres across the UK. We hope to report findings in early 2019. Financial support was given by the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre. The study has been set up by the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire RD&I which also provides the necessary infrastructure to recruit and follow-up the participants nationally.
